Meeting Mrs. Leela Bordia proved to be such a wonderful experience that within a few minutes, I felt that I know this very demure and beautiful lady for ages. Her typical attire in the snow- white "chikan" kurta showed her true ethnic mindset. In fact, the clarity of her speech and conviction of her mind was really inspiring. I was always encouraged for any new idea I proposed which always motivated me to do something or the other different. I could also brush up my photography skills since I was also given a chance to try my hands on the studio photography for the products of the company which was a great learning experience in itself. This internship will surely help me as developing myself as a designer to interpret regional concepts into my interpretation. The craftsmen were very articulate, open to questions and made an effort to walk around and give advice during pottery work. The office and factory exercises were based on real exploration examples and were very effective. Talking to new people, eating spicy traditional rajasthani food, visiting new historical places and exploring the cultural jewellery and dresses of this place was like a cherry on the cake. Having very limited background in ceramics, I now have a solid foundation upon which I can better communicate with fellow designers in my group.
