BLUE MAGIC Blue pottery, though formerly of Turkish-Persian origin, is widely recognized as a traditional craft of Jaipur. Legend has it that blue pottery came to Jaipur in the early 19 th century when one of its rulers, Sawai Ram Singh II set up a school of Art and encouraged artisans and craftsmen from all over the country to come and settle in Jaipur. Over the years a local company Neerja International set up by Leela Bordia has become synonymous with the art of blue pottery. Besides decorative items such as vases and bowls, plates and tiles, the company has introduced over 200 interesting items like door knobs, beads, candle and agarbatti stands, bathroom fittings, lanterns, coasters, perfume bottles and decanters, jewellery and chandeliers.
